Hometown: Carson, CA

Calvin Hadley double-majored in Political Science and Afro-American Studies in the Howard University Honors Program.  He was a Howard University Trustee Scholar, United States Achievement Academy Collegiate All-American Scholar, and member of the Charles R. Drew Honor Society.  His campus activities included being a member of the NAACP Howard University Chapter and serving as university student ambassador.  During the fall of his freshman year, Calvin studied abroad in Paris and then studied in Ghana during the summer of 2005. He aspires to start his own NGO. After graduating from Howard in 2008, Calvin spent a year in Senegal as an English teacher. He is now completing his master's degree at the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University.

In Calvin’s first summer with the Institute, he interned for the United States Department of Labor.  In 2007, he interned for Africare. Calvin returned to the Institute for a third summer in 2008 to serve as a summer fellow.
