  Stefan L. Lallinger

Hometown: Chapel Hill, NC

Stefan Lallinger is double majoring in Political Science and Development Studies at Brown University as part of the Program in Liberal Medical Education, which guarantees admission to Brown Medical School upon graduation.  While Stefan is a native of Chapel Hill, NC, he spent seven years living in Tanzania as a child and a year in Germany during high school.  He is fluent in German, proficient in Spanish and French, and is currently studying Swahili.  In 2006, Stefan served as an elected representative for the class of 2008 in the Brown Undergraduate Council of Students and worked as a residential peer leader.  The following year, he worked at the Howard R. Swearer Center for Public Service as the program coordinator for CityBrothers and as the co-chair of the Brotherhood.

His 2005 summer was spent tutoring children and senior citizens in English and other subjects in Quito, Ecuador. He then interned for Senator Joseph Biden during the summer of 2006. The following summer, Stefan worked with the Polaris Project, a non-profit organization that addresses human trafficking issues. 

Stefan is currently the campus campaign coordinator for Teach for America at Brown and hopes to teach American History/Civics in high school for two years before pursuing his M.D. at Brown.  He is also involved in a mentoring and tutoring program geared toward assisting East African refugee immigrants in the Providence area.  He aspires to be a medical physician and a social activist.
