Hometown: Lawrenceville, GA

DeMarcus Pegues, a William E. Brock, Jr. and Provost Scholar, majors in Psychology at the University of Tennessee—Chattanooga.  While maintaining his 4.0 GPA in the university’s honors program, DeMarcus assists an instructor with a doctoral dissertation on cancer and its effects on cognitive ability.  He is also involved with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, serving as vice president of the Planning for College Success program on his home campus. 

During the summer of 2006, he volunteered his services as a camp counselor, providing mentorship and teaching assistance to children (grades K-7).   In 2007, DeMarcus interned at the U.S. Department of Labor.  He intends to work as an industrial/organizational psychologist in the future.
