Hometown: Stevens Point, WI Bryon Shannon is a Management and Real Estate and Urban Land Economics double-major in the Honors Program of the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin. On campus, Bryon founded the Multiple Sclerosis Committee, a student organization that increases campus awareness and raises funds for multiple sclerosis. He also serves as co-president of the Multicultural Business Students Association and is a member of the Undergraduate Leadership Council. In the past, Bryon has assisted in the repair of substandard homes in Tennessee through an Appalachian service project and has taught students in North Carolina through Teach for America. In the future, Bryon would like to find work that empowers communities through the mass media. He interned at TV One during his first summer as an Institute scholar. During the spring semester of 2007, Bryon will intern in the external relations department, within the office of Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle before returning to Washington for his final summer at the Institute. |
